July 31, 2005 Sermon: Are You Ready For A Break Through?
Scripture:  John 5: 1-15
Sermon delivered by Assistant Pastor Mark Porter

Are you ready for a break through in your life?  Are you ready for God to break through in your finances:  Are you ready for God to break through on your job?  Are you ready for God to break through in your health?  Are you ready for God to break through in your marriage?  Are you ready for God to break through with your children?

Like the lady said during civil rights time, Im just sick and tired of being sick and tired.  How many of you know its time for a break through for our church and for our community?

At this pool of Bethesda, there were many crippled, sick and lame.  But at a certain season, an angel would come down to trouble the water.  There was a certain man that had been there many seasons.  Jesus came to this man and asked if he wanted to be made whole.

How many of you are ready for a break through?  How many of you are tired of baby mama drama?  In order to have a break through, youve got to break up the pity party.  Jesus asked the man wilt thou be made whole?  He picked him out because he knew he was having a pity party.  God is asking you this morning if you are ready for a break through.  Somebody is sitting there right now saying I have no man.  Do you want that house?  Loose that excuse.  You are sitting around saying, I have no money, I have no honey.  You are running around in your hoopty, sitting around putting the blame on somebody else.  The man is just like us, blaming it on the government, blaming it on the devil, blaming it on not enough people to move us into our new blessing.

Not only do you need to break off the pity party, but you need to break off those faulty friends.  The man had been sitting there for 38 years.  He had to have developed some kind of relationships.  Everybody that you think is your ace boon coon will leave you hanging.  Everybody with you aint for you.  People will try to use you to get their blessing.  But when its time for your blessing, those same friends cant be found.

Not only do you need to break off the pity party and break off those faulty friends, but you need to break into a fearless faith.  Jesus asked the man if he wanted to be made whole.  When the man said he had nobody to put him in the pool, Jesus told him to take up his bed and walk.  There was a certain complacency that had sunk into this mans spirit.  This man had some obstacles.  Get up from your pity party, get up and take up your bed and walk in faith.

We wanted a new church but we were sitting down having a pity party because they said we didnt have enough money.  The doctor might have told you that you have been sick all of your life.  But you need to get up and walk by faith to get your break through.  In verse 14 Jesus found the man that he had told to take up his bed and walk, in the temple.  You ought to praise him any how.
