Sermon March 28: Betrayed By A Friend
Scripture: Matthew 26:14-17, 47-50
Sermon delivered by Pastor Williams
If anybody ever needed a friend, it was Jesus. One of the twelve closest to Jesus betrayed Him. This friend was Judas who had been there when Jesus performed many miracles, one of the twelve! But he turned on Jesus, he betrayed Jesus. Anyone that has been hurt and betrayed by a friend can identify with what Jesus must have been going through.
Reasons for betrayal thirty (30) pieces of silver the love of money (verse 15). The Bible teaches us that the love of money is the root of all evil. Beware of people that love money because they will do anything. People who love money cant be your friend because they will choose money over you every time.
When you talk about people behind their backs, have secret encounters or walk away from the church, you are turning your back on Jesus.
Results of betrayal you dont have the joy of The Lord that you once had. But there is a remedy you have a forgiving God no matter what we have done. Jesus has love, comfort, redemption for the betrayer.
