Sermon April 4: Let Jesus Work It Out
Scripture: Matthew 26:51-56
Delivered by Pastor Williams

When friends have your back up against the wall, when youre going back and forth to school with your children, when your change is looking strange, dont pull your hair out or lose your cool, just let God work it out.
Peter, one of the inner circle, always spoke out before he thought; he always put his foot in his mouth. He saw Judas with the crowd, took out his sword and cut off the right ear of a man not named in Matthew but in the book of John, he is identified as Malchus. He jumped ahead of Gods plan. He was fighting instead of surrendering to Gods plan.
Many of us are just like Peter. We let people somebody step on our toes or talk about us and were ready to rumble. We try to fight our battles with the wrong weapons. We fight physical battles with physical weapons. We need to fight physical battles with spiritual weapons.
2 Corinthians 10:3 say For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh and in Ephesians Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. We must use the word of God when we have problems with our marriages, our jobs, our children, our friends, and our enemies. Use the Word of God to fight your battles.
When people come against us, its not them its Satan in them. We just need to let Jesus take control. Peter cut off the mans ear Jesus healed it. If Jesus had not healed it, Peter would have been crucified along with Jesus and Jesus could not let them happen. Jesus is in total control. How do we know? In verse 53 did Jesus not say Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels.
Jesus could have gotten down from the cross; He could have stopped the people from spitting on it, beating him, nailing him to the cross. He could have stopped them at any time He wanted to. But He didnt.
