November 7 Mission Lesson: The Royal Law
Scripture: James 2:8; Romans 13:8-10
God considers our treatment toward others as royal when fulfilled according to His Word. The selection of the word royal is an appropriate choice since all Gods children are considered royalty, kings and queens.
Within this context, the second law gives us our instructions for love. This law commands us to love one another, not to cause harm. It emphasizes godly treatment of one another.
Showing love unconditionally means treating everyone as equals. The rich and poor should not be treated any better or worse because of who they are or where they live. This Royal Law forbids the selfish exploitation of others. We learn from the story of the good Samaritan (Luke 10:29-37) that our neighbor is anyone who is in need and can benefit from our help.
