October 16, 2005 Sermon: What To Do When You Dont Know What To Do
Scripture:  II Chronicles 20: 1-12, 18
Sermon delivered by Pastor Fred Williams

Jehoshaphat was a man that surrounded himself with men who knew what to do.  But now he finds himself in a position that he just doesnt know what to do.  When you turn to be right, theres trouble; go to the left, theres trouble; go back and theres hell; go forward and theres more hell.  Some of you say everybody comes to me when they are in trouble, I have a degree hanging on the wall, I got all the answers with your chest stuck out.  But what do you do when you have $300 in your picket and $600 worth of bills?  What do you do when your kids are at home hungry?  What do you do?  What do you do when little Jr. calls you from jail for the fifth time to bail him out?

Jehoshaphat was in the box.  You have to remember this is the King of Judah.  Aint it amazing how your enemies always join forces to come against you?  All Jehoshphat enemies had joined together against him.  Let me tell you the first thing you need to do is admit you have a problem.
Dont blame it on others; just admit you have a problem.  Dont worry about me, admit your own problem.

We put our heads in the sand and pretend we have no problems.  Jehoshaphat was honest; he admitted he had a problem.  He could have let pride take over, but he fell down on his knees and talked to God.  We need to do like he did.

You need to learn how to pray when trouble is all around.  Not only did Jehoshaphat pray but he fasted and prayed.  Many of you here today have fleshly and spiritual problems.  The only way you can heal a spiritual problem is through prayer.  There is power in prayer.

When you pray, Gods power take hold of you.  God made some promises to us that Hes going to keep.  He promised that He would never leave us.  He promised He would make ways out of now way.  Look at the test.  Johoshaphat sought the Lord.  When you seek God, you are saying you are trusting in Him.  When you pray, you ought to feel His power.  Hes a Jesus that sits high and looks low.

What do you do when you dont know what to do?  Verse 18 tells us what to do.  You have to praise Him anyhow.  Dont care if troubles are around you, praise Him anyhow.  Hold you holy hands in praise.  Verse 22 tells us while they were praising, their enemies came under attack and were defeated.

When you pray, you ought to feel His power.
