August 15 Mission Lesson: Courage in Times of Fear
Scripture: Hebrews 13:5-6; Ephesians 6:10-18

Fear of the unknown and the uncertainties of life will fall upon everyone at one time or another.  But the children of God have an amazing weapon to ward off these spirit breakers, and His name is Jesus.  When others ridicule and persecute us, our relationship with the Father can give us strength and courage to persevere.  The Father has promised throughout His Word to grant us what we need when we ask Him.
Jesus, knowing that He would die on Calvary, went willingly to the cross to prove His love for His Father and the world.  How else could we witness such courage and faithfulness than through the death of the Son Jesus Christ?  How many of us would willingly be hanged on a cross for the sins of the world?  As children of God, we should have the faith of Jesus so that even in times of fear we can also be victorious.
