Lesson 13: Worship That Pleases God
Points to Ponder:
I. God is pleased when our worship is accurate. (Ref John 4:21-24)
a. Worship must be based on the truth of the scripture, not our opinions.
b. To worship in truth means to worship God as he is truly revealed in the
scripture.
II. God is pleased when our worship is authentic.
a. Worship is your spirit responding to God�s spirit.
b. The best style of worship is the one that most authentically represents
your love for God
c. There is no �one-size-fits-all� approach to worship and friendship.
III. God is pleased when our ship is thoughtful. (Ref Mark 12:30)
a. The command to �love God with all your mind� is repeated four times in the
New Testament.
b. It is much easier to offer clich�s in worship instead of making the effort to
honor God with fresh words like admire, respect, value, revere, honor and
appreciate.
IV. God is pleased when our worship is practical. (Refer Romans 12:1)
a. Why does God want your body? Why doesn�t He say �Offer your spirit?�
b. Real worship costs, �I will not offer to the Lord my God sacrifices that cost me
nothing�.
c. The heart of the matter is a matter of the heart.
Lesson 14: When God Seems Distant
Points to Ponder
I. Tell God exactly how you feel (Refer Job 23:8-10)
a. Unload every emotion that you�re feeling
b. God can handle your doubt, anger, fear, grief, confusion, and questions.
II. Focus on who God is � His unchanging nature.
a. Remind yourself what you know to be eternally true about God: He is good,
He loves me, He is with me, He knows what I�m through, He cares, and He has
a good plan for my life.
III. Trust God to keep his promises.
a. During times of spiritual dryness, you must patiently rely on the promises of
God, not your emotions, and realize that he is taking you to a deeper level of
maturity.
b. God�s grace is still in full force; He is still for you, even when you do not feel it.
IV. Remember what God has already done for you.
a. God still deserve our continual praise for the rest of our life because of what
Jesus die for us on the cross.
b. Jesus gave up everything so you could have everything.
