New Hope Missionary Baptist Church

The Women�s Mission meets the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 PM.  This section contains the weekly lessons taken from the Woman�s Home & Foreign Mission Society 2004 Guide and Program Book.  Lessons are added each week for you to study in preparation for the meetings.

 

November 14 Mission Lesson: Christ�s New Commandment

Scripture: John 13:34-35

 

 Jesus told His disciples that their love for each other should be based on the way He loved them.  The way they expressed their love for each other signified them as disciples.  Jesus commanded His disciples to be governed by the command-ment to love in His absence.  The Ten Commandments already included the law of love.  This commandment was new in other ways.  It was new because the Holy Spirit would empower believers to obey it.  This new commandment was made superior to the old; it included instructions to love your enemies.

 This law was not meant to be exclusive to the disciples but was to be obeyed by anyone who claimed to be a Christian.
