September 5: God Provides Strength in Times of Temptations

Posted on Thu, Sep 2, 2004

The Womens Mission meets the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 PM.  This section contains the weekly lessons taken from the Womans Home & Foreign Mission Society 2004 Guide and Program Book.  Lessons are added each week for you to study in preparation for the meetings.

September 5: God Provides Strength in Times of Temptations
Scripture: James 1:12-16; 1 Corinthians 10:6-13

Overcoming one temptation will make us stronger and better prepared to overcome the next one.  When we rely on the power of God to resist temptations, we find them easier to overcome.  If we review our lives and the times of trials and testings, we managed, with God, to get through those difficult times even when we didnt think we would. Consider how long you stayed in this place of sin or sadness.  Maybe you complained about it so much that God couldnt bring you to deliverance.
The trick is not to become complacent in our walk with God, or sin will find us.  Every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed (James 1:14).  Sin and temptation are like mol that can take over our spirit if we do not remove this disease from our lives.  God can and will give us the strength we need to free ourselves from the bondage of vices, sin, and any unholy temptation.
